FIFA ASEAN Cup: Indonesia Claim 2-0 Victory Over Singapore
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia secured a 2-0 victory over Singapore in a Group A, Division 1 match of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Friday.
According to FIFA records, Indonesia won after Ragnar Oratmangoen and Ole Romeny scored two goals. With three points from one match, Indonesia placed second in the provisional standings of Group A, Division 1 of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup. Meanwhile, Singapore is in third with no points.
As ANTARA reported, Indonesia took the initiative to attack from the start of the match and posed a threat several times, but was unable to breach Singapore's goal. Garuda squad took the lead in the 12th minute when Ragnar Oratmangoen converted Luke Vickery's cutback into a goal, making the score 1-0.
Despite holding a one-goal lead, Indonesia continued to pressure Singapore's defense. They created an opportunity with a long-range shot by Dean James that went wide of the goal. Oratmangoen had a chance to score his second goal of the match, but his shot sailed over the Singapore crossbar.
Towards the end of the first half, Indonesia created a golden opportunity through a shot by Ole Romeny, but the ball went just wide of the Singapore goal.
Indonesia continued to show its dominance over Singapore for the remainder of the first half. However, the Garuda squad's 1-0 lead remained unchanged heading into the break.
At the start of the second half, Indonesia once again took the offensive, but they were unable to break through Singapore's more compact defense. There was a brief threat from a long-range shot by Song Ui-young, but Indonesian goalkeeper Maarten Paes secured the ball.
Singapore was forced to play with only ten players from the 70th minute onward after Safuwan Baharudin received a red card for fouling Indonesian forward Mitchell Baker.
Indonesia doubled their lead in the 73rd minute when Singapore's goalkeeper, Izwan Mahbud, failed to predict Ole Romeny's penalty kick, bringing the score to 2-0.
Indonesia continued to pressure Singapore's defense, but the 2-0 score in favor of Kevin Diks and his teammates remained unchanged until the final whistle.
