Knysna's former mayor, Thando Matika, and two senior municipal officials are expected to appear before the Knysna Magistrates Court over corruption allegations on Monday.
This follows his arrest alongside acting municipal manager Boy Ngubo and acting chief financial officer Busisiwe Lubelwana by the police's Political Killings Task Team.
Matika was arrested in the same week that the South African Communist Party (SACP) named him as the party's candidate for the Knysna mayoral chain.
