Former Steelers RB teases return to Pittsburgh at 34 years old - Steelers Wire
Pittsburgh Steelers fans received a blast from the past last week, as former running back Le'Veon Bell hinted that he may need to dust off his cleats for a potential comeback.
Despite a return to Pittsburgh being unlikely at 34 years old, Bell teased the possibility when responding to popular Steelers social media account Blitzburgh.
"Don't make me put the cleats back on," Bell wrote via X.
Bell, who was drafted by the Steelers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, played five seasons in Pittsburgh before a contract dispute over being franchise tagged led him to sit out during the 2018 season.
Bell would later play for the New York Jets (2019-2020), Kansas City Chiefs (2020), Baltimore Ravens (2021) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2021), but he was never quite able to recapture the magic of his Pittsburgh days.
With Rico Dowdle sidelined with a toe injury, the Steelers could use a veteran running back to serve as Jaylen Warren's backup, but Bell likely wore out his welcome with the team's ownership, even if fans were ready to forgive the ugly 2018 drama.
