Gable Steveson skewered by UFC legend Daniel Cormier after KO loss - USA Today

Boos rained down on Gable Steveson.

He’d just been knocked out in 12 seconds by Sean Sharaf and lost more than a fight at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

He also appeared to lose respect Saturday, Sept. 19.

The transgression: Steveson left the octagon before Sharaf’s hand could be raised in victory by the referee following the heavyweight fight at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Daniel Cormier, the legendary UFC fighter who’s now part of the Paramount+ on-air commentary team, skewered Steveson. He said, “…you stand there and take your licks when you lose. You let that man (Shafar) get his hand raised and you stand there no matter how you feel. …

“You cannot be a great winner and then an ungrateful loser. And I think that was bad by Steveson.’’

Of course there was reason for Steveson’s frosty behavior. During a public press conference on Thursday, Shafar called Steveson “a rapist’’ and help incite a crowd that booed Steveson mercilessly.

Sharaf was referring to Steveson being arrested in 2019 on suspicion of criminal sexual conduct. The case eventually was dropped for lack of evidence but the controversy resurfaced this week.
