Gang held in Tirupattur for abducting school student

Three persons were arrested by Alangayam police near Jolarpet town on Saturday, on charges of abducting a school student, in a bid to extort money from his parents. The arrested persons were identified as R. Harish, 22, V. Bhuvanesh, 24, and G. Desingh, 21. All of them were residents of Alangayam town.
The police said S. Sanjeev Kumar, 17, a student at a Government Boys Higher Secondary School, did not return home on September 17. Thereafter, his father T. Sivakumar, a farmer, received a phone call seeking a ransom of βΉ50 lakh to set his son free.
He filed a complaint with the Alangayam police. Special police teams analysed CCTV camera footage and mobile phone signals, before tracing the boy at a hideout in Bengaluru. In coordination with local police, the special team nabbed the suspects and safely secured the student. The arrested persons were lodged at sub-jail in Tirupattur town. A probe is under way.
