Gauteng police probing murder, attempted murder case after Khan's associate shooting - EWN
Gauteng police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder following a shooting in Kempton Park linked to an associate of dismissed General Feroz Khan.
Khan is expected to testify in a private hearing at the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday.
His uncle-in-law died in the shooting on Monday night.
Preliminary reports indicate Khan's relative, Preggy Padayachee, was driving a Fiat on the R21 at about 8 o' clock on Monday night when he experienced a breakdown and called for help.
A friend and two others arrived to assist.
As they were attending to the vehicle, they came under gunfire.
The police's Dimakatso Nevuhulwi said, “The driver attempted to evade the gunfire but lost control of the vehicle, which collided with a jersey barrier.”
Padayachee was said to have died at the scene, while one passenger sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital.
The commission is yet to confirm whether there have been any applications from Khan's lawyers on Tuesday.
Khan is facing a criminal charge for his absence at his last scheduled appearance.
In June, Padayachee called for justice following an attack on Khan.
Khan had come under gunfire near his home in Houghton - just days before his initial testimony.
