‘Gem Granites’ Veeramani POCSO case: Annamalai wants SIT to be formed to ‘uncover entire network’

Commenting on the investigation into the POCSO Act case involving industrialist R. Veeramani of Gem Granites, former IPS officer and founder of We The Leaders Movement, K. Annamalai, on Wednesday (September 23, 2026) said that every police officer, politician, and influential individual “who helped shield him” for the past many years must also be brought to justice. Mr. Annamalai further called for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to be constituted to “uncover the entire network” that allowed his alleged crimes to continue for so long.
Referring to the arrest of a former employee of Gem Granites in connection with the case, Mr. Annamalai said in a social media post: “The investigation cannot stop with Gem Veeramani and his accomplices. Every police officer, politician, and influential individual who helped shield him for the past many years must also be brought to justice. It is also reported that a huge sum of money was exchanged in this process.”
He added: “It is also important that the Tamil Nadu police do not repeat past mistakes, and that the identities of all victims are safeguarded.”
Mr. Annamalai charged that the Tamil Nadu Police Department, which was once celebrated as the best in the country, “has become, over the past few years, a corrupt and incompetent department that does the politicians’ bidding.” The initial investigation into the POCSO case against Gem Veeramani, “the pedophile who had reportedly sexually exploited many young children, is an example of what the Tamil Nadu Police Department has transformed into,” he alleged.
