In a survey conducted by the MRB research firm in September, attitudes toward Greece’s strategic relations with Israel, its relations with Türkiye, marine parks, and the planned electricity interconnection between Greece and Cyprus were examined.

According to the survey results, 51.1 percent of participants believe that military cooperation with Israel should continue. Of this group, 31.8 percent stated that cooperation should “definitely” continue, while 19.3 percent said it should “probably” continue.

Meanwhile, 30.3 percent of participants argue that Türkiye’s reactions should be taken into account to prevent escalation. This figure includes 18 percent who “probably” support this approach and 12.3 percent who “definitely” support it. Meanwhile, 18.6 percent of participants responded “I don’t know/no answer.”

The poll revealed distinct differences in opinion among voters of different political parties. Support for continuing military cooperation with Israel stood at 78.5 percent among New Democracy voters, 76.6 percent among Greek Solution voters, 64.1 percent among Hope for Democracy voters, and 56.7 percent among PASOK voters.

The corresponding figures were 39.5 percent among ELAS voters, 25.9 percent among Freedom Route voters, and 23.9 percent among KKE voters. While 48.2 percent of “Path to Freedom” voters said Türkiye’s reactions should be taken into account to avoid tensions, this figure stood at 41.7 percent among KKE voters.

It was noted that the survey results reflect differences within party voter groups and should not be interpreted as representing the entire voter base of each party.

According to the poll, participants expressed a higher level of support for continuing Greece’s marine park plans and the Greece-Greek Cypriot Administration electricity interconnection project, despite Türkiye’s objections.

59.3 percent of participants stated that the projects should proceed as planned despite Türkiye’s objections. Of these participants, 36.2 percent said they “definitely” supported moving forward, while 23.1 percent said they “probably” supported it.

30.6 percent of participants preferred a more conciliatory approach toward Türkiye regarding the projects, while 10.1 percent did not express an opinion.
