A man from Gujarat’s Surendranagar won a laddu-eating competition after eating 28 laddus in 30 minutes, securing the title for the second consecutive year.

Balwantbhai Raghwani emerged victorious in the competition, which featured 28 contestants and was held as part of the rural Olympics at the renowned Tarnetar Fair.

The competition was organised jointly by the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, the Sports Authority of Gujarat and the District Training Center. The event drew a large crowd, with spectators gathering to witness the contest rooted in the folk culture of the Jhalawar region.

The 28 participants, aged between 25 and 75, were required to eat gram flour laddus coated with lentils and sugar within 30 minutes. As the competition began, contestants raced to consume as many laddus as possible.

Several participants were eliminated during the first 15 minutes after eating an average of 15 laddus. The competition intensified in the final round, with five contestants competing for the top spot.

As participants reached 22, 24 and 26 laddus, the crowd responded with loud applause. The final minutes saw heightened excitement as contestants continued their attempts to claim the title.

Ultimately, Raghwani won first place by eating 28 laddus in 30 minutes, and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,000.
