Gurugram man panics after seeing crowd, clings to woman while sitting on ground

A woman quickly stepped in to calm her friend after he became distressed on seeing a crowd during their visit to Gurugram, helping prevent the situation from escalating.

The incident took place on Saturday in the Friends Colony area of Civil Lines, where the two friends had travelled from Delhi for a visit.

According to the police, the young man, who was dealing with mental health issues, suddenly became anxious and disoriented after encountering a crowd in the area.

As he appeared increasingly uncomfortable and overwhelmed, his female friend immediately tried to reassure him and create a calmer environment around him. She stayed with him and helped him regain his composure while people gathered around the area.

In the viral videos circulating around social media, the man was seen hugging the girl tightly as he sat on the ground, refusing to let her go. The woman was also seen asking people to not record her, while staying calm throughout the video.

Police said the woman had brought her friend from Delhi to Gurugram specifically to give him a change of environment and help improve his mental well-being. The outing was intended to provide him with some time away from his usual surroundings.

Her timely intervention helped bring the situation under control, and no untoward incident was reported.

The incident also emphasised the importance of responding with patience and understanding when someone becomes overwhelmed in a crowded or unfamiliar setting.
