The State government directed officials to strengthen sanitation, security and basic infrastructure at SC and ST Gurukul institutions, hostels and Ashram schools, while ensuring that uniforms, footwear and textbooks reach students without delay.
Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, reviewing programmes implemented through the Project Management Unit on Saturday, asked officials to identify bottlenecks in procurement and distribution and coordinate with District Collectors to resolve them. Individual officers should be assigned responsibility and deadlines for distribution, he said.
Officials were asked to assess whether sanitation staff were adequate at large residential campuses and prepare proposals for improving their remuneration. Infrastructure planning would cover classrooms, kitchens, drinking-water facilities, RO plants, washing areas, sanitation facilities and essential equipment.
Security at girls’ Gurukul institutions is also proposed to be strengthened through additional personnel and CCTV surveillance, with cameras linked to local police stations wherever feasible.
On academics, the Minister directed officials to develop a uniform approach and provide students in remote institutions access to subject experts through online classes and remote support. A dedicated academic plan will be prepared for Intermediate students, including study material, digital resources, additional coaching and guidance for competitive examinations and higher education.
Officials were also asked to review sanctioned posts, staff strength and vacancies and place the complete staffing position before the governing body.
