Habeeb Fasuyi: The Man Flying High on Business Acumen - THISDAYLIVE
For Habeeb Fasuyi, success appears to have become less of a destination and more of a lifestyle. Ever on the move and seemingly always flying high, the Maryland, US businessman has built a reputation around sharp intellect, entrepreneurial instinct and an uncommon ability to spot opportunities where others see only challenges.
Those who knew him early in life would hardly be surprised by the trajectory he has taken. A Chartered Accountant and serial entrepreneur, Fasuyi demonstrated an impressive combination of intelligence, discipline and business curiosity from his formative years.
That instinct has become a defining feature of his entrepreneurial journey.
When Fasuyi ventured into business many years ago, he was not interested in building another company. His ambition, according to those familiar with his journey, was to create a financial services business distinguished by innovation, accessibility and a deep understanding of the needs of its customers.
Today, that vision continues to find expression through Options Financial Services, where he serves as Chief Executive Officer.
The latest evidence of his entrepreneurial thinking is the companyβs Car-for-Cash initiative, an innovative lending product designed to allow vehicle owners to unlock the financial value of their automobiles without surrendering possession of the cars.
Unveiled at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, the facility offers eligible individuals and businesses an opportunity to use their vehicles as collateral for financing while continuing to drive and use the automobiles in their everyday lives.
The concept is deceptively simple, but its commercial logic is significant: an asset that ordinarily sits in a driveway or spends its days navigating Lagos traffic can also become a source of liquidity when its owner needs capital.
The product, which carries an interest rate of 4.5 per cent, was developed against the backdrop of increasing demand for flexible financing among Nigerians seeking funds for business expansion, working capital, urgent financial obligations and other needs.
Prospective customers are required to satisfy stipulated eligibility conditions and provide the necessary documentation, while their vehicles undergo valuation before financing is approved. Loan limits, repayment structures and other conditions are determined within the framework of the facility.
For Fasuyi, his entrepreneurial story is also intertwined with a long-standing commitment to giving back to society. Having embraced the culture of philanthropy early in life, he has increasingly sought avenues through which business success can translate into wider economic opportunities.
