Hanuman Ansh box office Day 51: Spiritual film stays strong despite competition
Hanuman Ansh stayed firm at the box office on Day 51, posting another jump over the weekend despite fresh competition from new releases in cinemas. Deep into its theatrical run, the film continued to draw audiences and added another push through renewed footfalls.
Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the spiritual drama is based on his book Divine Detour: That Changed My Life and follows Lakshmi Narayan's journey in pre-Independence India towards becoming Neem Karoli Baba. Even as Nani's The Paradise and The Vvaan - Force of the Forest arrived in theatres this week, Hanuman Ansh continued to hold its ground.
The film has now collected Rs 389.85 crore worldwide in gross, including Rs 352.10 crore from India and Rs 37.75 crore from overseas. Its India nett collection stands at Rs 298.03 crore across 214,285 shows. On its eighth Saturday, September 26, the film earned Rs 7.75 crore gross and Rs 6.50 crore nett across 3,979 shows. On Day 51, it recorded overall theatre occupancy of 44.04 per cent, opening at 19 per cent in the morning, rising to 42.08 per cent in the afternoon, 55.46 per cent in the evening and 59.62 per cent in the night shows.Week 7 trend
Before this jump, Hanuman Ansh had collected Rs 3.35 crore nett across 3,767 shows on Day 50. At that stage, its India gross stood at Rs 344.35 crore and India nett at Rs 291.53 crore, while it added Rs 0.50 crore overseas to take the total overseas gross to Rs 37.00 crore and the worldwide gross to Rs 381.35 crore. The film tells the story of Lakshmi Narayan, a young man living in pre-Independence India. After the death of his mother, he leaves home in search of a spiritual path. His journey takes him across northern India and eventually leads to his transformation into Neem Karoli Baba.
Shobhinaw Satyaa plays Lakshmi Narayan Sharma, who later becomes Neem Karoli Baba. Chandan K Anand appears as Ram Nandan Bhosale, while Nikhil Dubey, Anil Rastogi and Sugandha Malhotra play Sudhir, Mahant Ji and Sudhi respectively. Nani's The Paradise, which released on September 24 with paid previews from September 23, collected Rs 15.25 crore nett across 6,889 shows on Day 3. That took its total India gross to Rs 90.50 crore and total India nett to Rs 76.40 crore. Overseas, it collected Rs 4.00 crore on Day 3, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 29.00 crore and pushing the worldwide gross to Rs 119.50 crore.
Meanwhile, The Vvaan - Force of the Forrest opened with Rs 8 crore nett across 6,746 shows, with its total India gross at Rs 9.60 crore on Day 1. On Day 2, the film collected Rs 11.00 crore nett across 6,887 shows, taking its total India gross to Rs 22.60 crore and total India nett to Rs 19.00 crore.
