Hanuman Ansh: Neem Karoli Baba's daughter watched film 15 times, says producer
Neem Karoli Baba’s daughter, Girija ji, also known as Amma ji, has watched Hanuman Ansh around 15 times — and producer Ragini Sona says she cried each time. For the team behind the film, her response became one of the most meaningful reactions to the spiritual drama.
In an interview with Screen, Ragini spoke about how she and director Vishal Chaturvedi tried to get in touch with Girija ji before the film’s release. Vishal wanted to seek her blessings, and the two eventually spoke to her over the phone.
Ragini recalled asking Amma ji if she would like to watch Hanuman Ansh. According to the producer, she replied, “Yes, I will watch the film when I feel that the time is right.”
Ragini said that Amma ji eventually watched the film and has now seen it around 15 times.

Ragini also recalled a conversation with Amma ji that she described as a life-changing experience. When Girija ji asked what had inspired them to make the film, Ragini spoke about meeting Neem Karoli Baba when she was six years old, while Vishal discussed his research and what led him to tell Baba’s story.
Ragini said that during the conversation, she mentioned that her father had been posted in Nainital. According to her, Amma ji immediately named her father and told her the exact location of his home in Agra, something Ragini said dated back around 50 years.
She added that Amma ji also mentioned her elder brother by name and said she could see everything “in front of her eyes in real time”.
Ragini said she was left emotional by the exchange.
“I don't have any answers to your question, but I could see everything,” she recalled Amma ji telling her when she asked how she knew these details.
For Ragini, the experience strengthened her belief that she had been chosen by Baba to be part of the film.'She felt like Baba himself'
Ragini later met Girija ji in person. She said that before making Hanuman Ansh, the team did not even know that Baba's daughter was still alive.
When they eventually met her, Ragini said she felt Girija ji closely resembled her father in spirit and manner.
“We felt she was a total replica of Baba. I felt as if it was Baba himself in her,” she said.
Ragini also spoke about the way Girija ji follows Baba's teachings, particularly his message of “Love all, feed all”. She recalled being served food at her home and described the experience as divine, saying she felt Baba's presence there.
The team has also met Neem Karoli Baba's grandson, Dhananjan ji. Ragini described Baba's family as simple and loving and said the team was grateful to receive their blessings.
She also referred to the family as the “actual ansh”, or fragments, of Baba.
According to Ragini, Hanuman Ansh has now become a medium through which more people can learn about Neem Karoli Baba and his life.
The film has also turned into a major box-office success. Hanuman Ansh has earned over Rs 347.05 crore worldwide, according to trade website, Sacnilk.
Ragini believes Baba's blessings have played a role in the film's journey. She said the response from his family, particularly Girija ji, has been deeply meaningful for the team.
The film, directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, tells the story of Neem Karoli Baba and his spiritual journey. Its success has also brought renewed attention to the life and teachings of the spiritual figure.
