The Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn Diaz, joined the 2026 Asian Games torch relay as one of the torchbearers last Thursday.
The role comes five years after Diaz made history by winning the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
“Keep the fire burning,” Diaz said.
The Asian Games will officially open on Saturday.
