How did former Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick perform in first Jets game?

There's a new safety on the New York Jets defense, and it's none other than former Pittsburgh Steeler Minkah Fitzpatrick. We at Steelers Wire decided to analyze how his first game with a new team went, and it unfortunately didn't go as planned for the All-Pro safety.

From breaking down Fitzpatrick's performance to what his future with the Jets could look like, here's a look at his debut with New York in Week 1.

Fitzpatrick, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro, was limited to just six snaps in his Jets debut. He suffered a groin injury early in the Week 1 victory over the Tennessee Titans, and his short-term future with New York is up in the air.

Fitzpatrick is reportedly set to miss two to three weeks with the groin injury he picked up in Week 1, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Jets placed him on injured reserve just to be safe.

Fitzpatrick was traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Steelers in 2019, then back to the Dolphins in 2025, only to be sent packing once more to the Jets this offseason. He's still a capable starter in today's NFL, but this injury could limit his impact early during the 2026 season.
