Hyrox Beijing refunds participants affected by defecation incident - GMA Network
Hyrox Beijing has refunded participants who competed on the same schedule as the athlete who defecated mid-competition on September 12.
According to The New York Times, Hyrox Beijing sent emails to participants saying it βwould provide refunds for the value of the event ticket.β
However, it was not disclosed how many participants were refunded or whether they received the full amount of their ticket.
The entrance fee for a Hyrox competition ranges from $80 to $180 (approximately P5,023 to P11,302), depending on the location.
Earlier, photos of the athlete, with feces running down her legs, circulated on social media and prompted online discussions about whether she should have been allowed to finish the Hyrox race.
Hyrox co-founder Moritz Fuerste later released a statement about the incident, apologizing to those who were βdirectly or indirectly affected,β as well as to those who expressed disappointment with how the situation was handled.
Hyrox is a global indoor fitness race that combines running and functional workout stations. To complete the entire routine, participants run one kilometer, then complete one functional workout station, repeating the cycle eight times. βHermes Joy Tunac/JCB, GMA News
