The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has welcomed the Electoral Court ruling dismissing the African National Congress (ANC)’s appeal to have 181 of its councillor candidates allowed to contest the upcoming local government elections.
ANC councillor candidates in six municipalities have been excluded from the final IEC candidate list after the party failed to submit their names before the 28 August deadline.
