Ilorin Court Orders Police To Investigate Lawyer, Others Over Alleged Intimidation - The Guardian Nigeria News
An Upper Area Court sitting in Akerebiata, Ilorin, Kwara State, has ordered the police to investigate a lawyer, Oluwanike Omotayo, and eight others over criminal allegations filed against them.
The complaint, filed by Oyekanmi Isijola, borders on alleged criminal conspiracy, intimidation, forgery and criminal defamation, among other offences.The court gave the order while ruling on a preliminary objection filed by the first defendant, Omotayo, during the week.
The court held that it had jurisdiction to hear the complaint and directed the police to thoroughly investigate the allegations against the defendants. It also ordered the police to report the outcome of the investigation to the court.
The other defendants are Olawaseyi Catherine, Mary Isijola, Ganiyu Adesina, Ayodele Isijola, Idowu Owoeye, Kayode Adeoba, Idaya Babalola and Funmilola Somotun.They were, however, all absent during the court proceedings.
Counsel to the complainant, M.B. Afolayan, welcomed the courtβs decision, while the matter was subsequently adjourned.
