A series of hoardings taking potshots at Opposition leaders over their alleged contrasting positions on the Election Commission appeared in Delhi on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) ahead of the INDIA bloc meeting.
While the posters didn’t mention who put them up, the BJP separately criticised Rahul Gandhi, saying Opposition parties have started questioning his leadership even before the INDIA bloc meeting began.
Ashish Usha Agrawal, national Convenor of the BJP Media Department, said the meeting hasn’t even started, yet questions are already being raised about Gandhi’s leadership. “Who all will distance themselves from Rahul Gandhi will become clear today in the INDIA alliance meeting,” he said in a post on X on Wednesday (September 30).
The Election Commission has withdrawn the additional SIR-related declaration from the online voter enrolment Form 6 in states where the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has been completed, days after the full Commission decided that the requirement would apply only during the exercise.
The declaration, which requires new applicants to furnish details linking themselves or their parents or grandparents to electoral rolls prepared during an earlier intensive revision, remains available on the ECINET portal in states and Union Territories where the SIR is underway.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a closed-door meeting with Rahul Gandhi in his capacity as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, told him that the Congress would return to power once the Bharatiya Janata Party was out of power, Mr. Gandhi told his colleagues at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Tuesday.

In States where the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is not currently underway, the Election Commission (EC) has reverted to allowing online submission of Form 6, used for fresh voter registration, without requiring the attached declaration introduced for the SIR.
EC reverts online Form 6 submissions to omit the SIR-only declaration, clarifying scope and IT changes across states.
