According to media reports, the flydubai co-pilot who attacked Indian Captain Smit Machchhar during a Dubai-Tel Aviv flight this week has been identified as Omani citizen Hamam al-Hammami. The reports said he attacked Machchhar with a crash axe and allegedly tried to take control of the aircraft.

In Dubai, Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised Machchhar for his β€œcourage” in preventing a possible tragedy after he was attacked by his co-pilot during the flight to Israel.

At the United Nations, India strongly rejected Pakistan's remarks on Jammu and Kashmir and said Islamabad's β€œso-called” civilian governments β€œserve at the mercy” of their Army and rarely complete their terms.
