Indian YouTuber's phone stolen in San Francisco, here's how cops caught the thief

An Indian YouTuber has narrated how a quick trip to pick up his order ended with his phone being stolen while he was travelling in San Francisco, before a 911 call led police to the suspect within minutes.

In a video posted on Instagram, Anshu Bisht shared his experience, saying he had gone to pick up his order while he was at a restaurant when a homeless man approached from behind, picked up his phone and fled on a scooter.

The CCTV footage included in the video showed the man taking the phone before leaving the area. Anshu was able to track the device using another phone but was unsure whether it was safe to go to the location himself.

“I could track it from another phone, but how was I supposed to get there? And what if I went there and that guy attacked me,” he said.

Anshu then called 911 and alerted the police about the theft. He said officers went to the location where his phone was being tracked and caught the suspect shortly afterwards.

Footage shared by Anshu also showed officers consoling him after the incident. One of the officers told him not to hesitate to call the police if he ever feels uncomfortable or unsafe.

Anshu praised the officers for their response and thanked the police after his phone was recovered.

“Hats off to the police. Nothing but respect for the police system here,” he said.
