Indonesian navy chief praises army's role in regional peace

Indonesian Navy Chief Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali praised the Pakistan Army's role in regional peace during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir, the military's media wing said in a statement on Monday. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Admiral Ali called on CDF Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, where matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed. "The two sides expressed satisfaction over the existing military-to-military relations and reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in the domains of professional training, defence collaboration and joint exercises," the statement said. The ISPR said CDF Munir reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and brotherly relations with Indonesia, particularly in the defence and security domains. "Admiral Ali appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and stability," it said. Meanwhile, Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al Hajjar, who is on a two-day visit to Pakistan, also called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. During the meeting, both dignitaries exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for further enhancing bilateral relations in security domain, the ISPR said. The importance of strengthening institutional linkages and fostering greater cooperation between the two countries' security institutions was also emphasised. The COAS reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Lebanon and expressed the desire to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in areas of shared interest. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan's contributions towards regional peace and stability and acknowledged the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism, the news release said.
