Indonesian Racer Sean Gelael Wins 6 Hours of Fuji in Japan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian racing driver Sean Gelael, racing for Team WRT 32, won the FIA World Endurance Championship's 6 Hours of Fuji in Japan on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026.

"I am very happy. We have worked hard all year, a season where races haven't always gone our way," Sean said in an official statement on Sunday.

The first driver, Darren Leung, put in an impressive performance, successfully avoiding a multi-car pile-up shortly after the start and climbing to eighth place.

The British driver then advanced to third place, even overtaking the driver ahead of him.

Sean Gelael, who took over from Leung, briefly held the lead (P1).

Farfus then took the wheel from Sean. Repeated Safety Car (SC) deployments did not always favor WRT 32's position; however, the Brazilian driver's two decades of experience with BMW enabled him to overcome every challenge.

The next FIA WEC race will be held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain on October 18.
