Investigators probing Daveyton crash that injured 16 people

Accident investigators in Ekurhuleni are probing a crash on Friday that injured 16 people in Daveyton.

The incident reportedly happened when a minibus taxi collided with a tyre repair container.

Rescue workers arrived on the scene of the accident to find the driver still stuck behind the steering wheel, while 15 other passengers also sustained injuries.

“The occupants of the tyre repair containers are unharmed. It is alleged that the vehicle [taxi] was driving in a high speed and its braking system couldn't function while approaching the intersection,” said the City of Ekurhuleni's William Tladi.
