Iowa football teases new alternate uniforms vs. Iowa State - Hawkeyes Wire
As No. 21 Iowa (1-0) plays host to in-state rival Iowa State (1-0) from a sold-out Kinnick Stadium on Saturday as part of the 2026 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series clash, the Hawkeyes will match the "Black Out" theme by donning new all-black uniforms for the prime-time game.
While the program's short teaser video of the new uniforms does increase the already feverish anticipation of the matchup, it still leaves several elements to the imagination.
At the very least, the Hawkeyes' black pants will lack the vertical gold striping on the outside of the leg, and the team may use gray in certain components, such as numbers, lettering, or event helmet decals.
Iowa is 9-1 all-time in games they've worn all-black alternates, with the Hawkeyes' 55-24 upset victory over then-No. 3 Ohio State in 2017 serving as the biggest of those nine wins.
As for Iowa State, they will wear all-white uniforms in the Cy-Hawk game for the first time since 2012, complete with their Cardinal helmet featuring "Cyclones" in gold script.
The Hawkeyes and Cyclones are scheduled for a 6:36 p.m. CT kickoff on Saturday, with the contest broadcast on NBC.
