IPID probe against 3 senior IDAC investigators at advanced stage - EWN
Investigations by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) are at an advanced stage against three investigators accused of assault, torture and abuse of power.
The three are Chief Investigator Dylan Perumal, Senior Investigator Brian Padayachee and Investigator Suneel Bellochun.
They are currently on suspension after being implicated in evidence before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Itβs understood that the former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) boss, Andrea Johnson, was made aware of the allegations but chose to sweep them under the carpet.
Eyewitness News understands the IPID investigation relates to an incident during the tenure of the three investigators at the South African Police Service (SAPS).
It follows a complaint by a suspect in a fraud investigation who alleges she was assaulted and tortured by the three during the course of the investigation.
Itβs not clear if Johnson became aware of IPID's investigation before the trio joined IDAC or after.
Eyewitness News understands evidence relating to this investigation could be led at the Madlanga Commission in the near future.
