Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi presented Washington's feedback on Iran's latest ceasefire proposal at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, state media IRNA reported, days after US President Donald Trump said he had rejected the plan.
Iran last week proposed a deal under which Washington would lift its blockade on Iranian ports in exchange for Tehran reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days.
Trump said on Sunday that he had rejected the proposal, while Araghchi said Tehran had not received any formal response.
It was unclear what the US reply contained. Araghchi had been in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, where he held meetings with mediators and discussed Iran's proposal before returning to Tehran. He then received the US feedback from Qatari mediators during a stopover in Doha on his way home from New York, Reuters reported.
Araghchi also briefed the cabinet on Iran's proposed conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said in a post on X.
The US-Israeli war against Iran has now entered its eighth month.
