Two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has described himself as an excellent counter-puncher with a boxing brain as he prepares for his mega-fight against Tyson Fury on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The all-British clash will headline a Ring show streamed live on Netflix and will be contested for the vacant WBA โsuperโ heavyweight title. Joshua, with a record of 30-4 and 27 knockouts, says he will bring aggression from the first round. Fury, 36-2-1 with 25 knockouts, says he will do whatever he wants on the way to a stoppage win. โItโs about a battle of will,โ Joshua told The Ring. โHe does great things, he does bad things. There are things Iโm going to work on in the gym, like I did with Kristian Prenga. But sometimes the night just unveils things that are unexpected, and I just have to dig deep to make it an exciting fight while it lasts.โSee more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google Joshua knows a surprise could be in store. In July, he survived two first-round knockdowns to rally and stop Prenga in what was billed as a tune-up fight, after he survived a fatal car accident in December. The British-Nigerian insisted that power is not all he brings. โI donโt believe just being a big puncher is what I bring to the table. Iโm good at measuring distance. I feel Iโm an excellent counterpuncher. I have a great heart, great anticipation and a great reading of the game,โ he said. It had looked set to collapse amid a dispute over the venue, as Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, pushed for it to be staged in the United Kingdom. Speaking to Sky Sports News, Joshua predicted an early finish. โA knockout, if I am honest with you. Could be in the first round,โ he said. He also ruled out retirement, whatever the result, saying, โThere is more to come. The Anthony Joshua journey does not end here.โ Fury, installed as an early favourite by bookmakers, promised fireworks. โI am going to come out, and I am going to blast him out of there. It will be a gunfight at the OK Corral. I am not going to run away. I am not going to box. I am going to throw down,โ he said.
