Jr NTR-Prashanth Neel's Dragon locked for June 2027 release, producer confirms
The wait for Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel’s Dragon has a date again. The film's production house, Mythri Movie Makers, has confirmed that the action film will release in theatres on June 11, 2027, putting an end to the recent speculation that the film could be pushed further.
The clarification came from producer Ravi Shankar Yellamanchili at the pre-release event of Don’t Trouble The Trouble. According to Deccan Chronicle, he dismissed reports of a delay and reiterated that Dragon will arrive in theatres on the date announced by the makers.
The release date had come under question after Jr NTR suffered a hand injury and underwent surgery. The actor has reportedly been advised around six weeks of rest, raising concerns over whether the setback would affect the film’s schedule. For now, the makers appear confident that production can continue without changing the release plan.Dragon shoot continues without Jr NTR
While Jr NTR recovers, Prashanth Neel has been shooting portions that don't require the actor. These sequences were already part of the schedule and are expected to be completed before Jr NTR returns to the sets.
Once he is back, the focus will shift to his portions. The team is reportedly looking to wrap the shoot by the end of this year, leaving enough time for editing and the film's extensive post-production work.
That schedule will be crucial for a film of Dragon's scale, particularly given Neel's reputation for building large-scale action around his central characters.
The makers haven't revealed much about the story yet, keeping details under wraps as anticipation around the Jr NTR-Neel collaboration continues to grow.Who stars in Dragon?
Directed by Prashanth Neel, Dragon stars Jr NTR in the lead, with Rukmini Vasanth making her Telugu cinema debut opposite him. The cast also includes Anil Kapoor, who plays Raghuveer Rathod, the Chief of the Narcotics Bureau, and Biju Menon as Jaleel Rahman, the Afghanistan Logistics Head.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Dragon was initially scheduled for release on June 25, 2026. It is now locked for June 11, 2027.- EndsALSO READ | Jr NTR to undergo shoulder surgery in Hyderabad, team seeks privacy
