Katie Britt Is on the 2026 TIME100 Next
Senator Katie Britt has quickly learned how to wield influence in Donald Trump’s Republican Party while avoiding its hardest edges.
Not long after she became in 2022 the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the Senate, Mitch McConnell invited her to join his weekly leadership meetings as an adviser, giving her access to the GOP’s longtime power center.
Britt, 44, has since strongly backed Trump’s agenda, including his aggressive immigration policies, while privately urging the Administration toward moderation at key moments.
The Alabama lawmaker has also carved out her own policy lane around families and children. Britt pressed Trump to protect IVF after an Alabama court ruling threatened access to the procedure, helped secure expanded childcare tax credits, and has worked across the aisle on legislation protecting children from social media. Her ability to bridge divides within the GOP while cultivating bipartisan relationships has made Britt an increasingly consequential player in the Senate.
