Kebbi NLC hails Idris over teachers’ salary adjustment - Vanguard News

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kebbi State Council, has commended Governor Nasir Idris for approving consequential salary adjustments and responsibility allowances for primary school teachers in the state.

The NLC chairman in the state, Comrade Murtala Usman, said this in a statement on Monday, describing the governor’s decision as a significant development for primary school teachers.

Usman said, in addition to the new salary structure, Idris had approved responsibility allowances for primary school teachers, which he described as unprecedented in Kebbi State and the northern region.

According to him, the development further demonstrates the governor’s commitment to improving the welfare of teachers and strengthening primary education, which he described as the foundation of basic education.

The NLC chairman said the union would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of workers and advancing the development of Kebbi State.

“We commend the governor for the kind gesture extended to primary teachers and we rejoice with them for the new salary structure and the responsibility allowances. No doubt, it will give teachers a new sense of belonging,” Usman said.

He, however, urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by demonstrating greater dedication to their duties and maintaining high professional standards.

Usman urged the teachers to justify the improved remuneration through commitment to teaching and effective service delivery in their classrooms.
