Brother Mavoorus Maliyekkal, 90, died in Kochi on Tuesday.

He was undergoing treatment for some time due to age-related ailments. The death occurred at the Rajagiri Hospital near Aluva.

The funeral will be held at St. Teresa’s Church, Kottackal near Mala in Thrissur on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The body will be kept at the Gandhinagar ground gallery park in Ernakulam from 9 a.m to 11 a.m for the public to pay homage, according to a communication.

In his social work spanning over several decades, he worked for the welfare and rehabilitation of street children.
