KTR alleges masked attack on aides at police station, demands judge-led probe

BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday alleged that around 15 masked men barged into the Saifabad Police Station and attacked his PA Mahender Reddy and PRO Mahesh, who had been summoned for questioning in connection with the September 7 Assembly gate incident.

In a post on X, KTR alleged that the men entered the police station around 6.30 pm and launched a group attack on the two. BRS leaders claimed that members of the party's legal team, who were present at the station, intervened and stopped the alleged assault, following which the attackers fled.

Calling the incident "extremely reprehensible", KTR questioned whether Congress workers were behind the alleged attack or whether police personnel in plain clothes had been masked and used to carry it out.

He demanded an immediate probe by a sitting judge and alleged that the attack took place in the presence of police personnel after Mahesh and Mahender Reddy were called to the station for questioning in a "politically motivated case".

KTR also alleged that the two had been asked to appear for questioning in the morning but were made to wait until evening, claiming this indicated that the attack had been planned in advance.

He further alleged that the incident amounted to political vendetta despite a High Court direction that no action be taken against Mahesh and Mahender Reddy until further orders.

KTR held Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, responsible for the alleged incident and demanded immediate protection and medical treatment for Mahesh and Mahender Reddy, whom he said were injured in the attack.

He also called for the immediate preservation of CCTV footage from cameras inside and outside the police station and demanded that all those involved in the alleged attack be identified and punished.

KTR warned that the BRS would not remain silent if action was not taken.
