Kyle Shanahan updates on injured 49ers stars limited after Week 3 win

The San Francisco 49ers' Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals came at a stiff injury cost.

San Francisco dealt with a rash of injuries throughout the contest including injuries to wide receiver Mike Evans and left tackle Trent Williams. Neither player returned to the game after going down with their ailments.

Evans left in the first half with what head coach Kyle Shanahan classified as a rib/oblique injury. He told reporters in his press conference that he wasn't sure what the nature of the injury was or when it occurred. He's also unsure how long the receiver might be out.

"We don't know yet," Shanahan said. "We couldn't tell if it was a broken rib or if it was an oblique."

Williams left in the second half with a stinger in his shoulder. He returned to the sideline after taking a cart to the locker room, but he didn't have his helmet on and he never came back into the game. Vederian Lowe was his replacement at left tackle.

Defensive tackle Gracen Halton dealt with cramping during the game according to Shanahan. Halton left in the third quarter and didn't re-enter the game. It's unclear how severe the issue is and if it will impact him into Week 4.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw had a quad issue. Shanahan said they put Greenlaw back in for one play before shutting him down for the rest of the game.

All the other players who were banged up went back into the game. Cornerbacks Deommodore Lenoir and Renardo Green both were evaluated for concussions. Linebacker Garret Wallow had a stinger.

Shanahan will speak with reporters Monday and should have some additional insight on the severity of those injuries, and if anything else crops up after the game.
