Ladli Behna proved costly: Madhya Pradesh CM's witty reply to girl's query
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav's lighter side was on display at the Bundeli Sammelan held in Bhopal.
A discussion was underway at Ravindra Bhavan on issues such as Bundeli culture, youth and employment when a question from popular Chhatarpur-based Bundeli content creator Binnu Rani suddenly lightened the mood.
At the event, organised as part of the ‘Bundeli Bauchhar’ programme, Binnu Rani asked Yadav what his plan was for “Binnus”, or daughters, given that he had done a lot for “Jijjis”, or sisters, in the state.
Smiling at the question, Yadav replied in a humorous manner, “You don't know, Ladli Behna has already proved very expensive. I had no idea that becoming Chief Minister would come with such a heavy blow.”
His response was met with laughter and applause across the hall.
Yadav then jokingly told Binnu Rani, “You are still too young for this scheme. Grow a little older, and then you will benefit from it.” His remark drew loud applause from those present.CM ALSO SPEAKS ABOUT LADLI BEHNA
During the interaction, Yadav also spoke about the Ladli Behna scheme, saying that after becoming Chief Minister, he got a real sense of the government's financial responsibilities. Despite this, he said, the government would not shy away from taking decisions in the interests of women.
He said the scheme was launched with a monthly amount of Rs 1,000, which has now been increased to Rs 1,500. Despite the initial financial challenges, he said, the government's objective was to make women in the state financially stronger and empowered.- Ends About the Author
