Lagos Coastal Road crash claims one life - The Guardian Nigeria News

One person was killed while three others sustained serious injuries in a road crash involving a Lexus Jeep along the Coastal Road inward Eko Hotel, Lagos.

The grey Lexus Jeep 350, with registration number LSD 554 KV, reportedly lost control, crashed into a roadside pole and overturned.

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who were monitoring traffic around the area, responded to the scene and secured the affected section of the road.

The three injured victims were rescued with the assistance of Good Samaritans and taken to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for medical treatment.

Security personnel from Victoria Island also provided reinforcement, while LASTMA officers removed the mangled vehicle from the carriageway to restore normal traffic flow.

The agency said relevant emergency and security authorities were subsequently engaged for rescue, investigation and other safety procedures.

Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and cautioned motorists against excessive speed and reckless driving.

Bakare-Oki urged motorists to exercise caution, maintain appropriate speeds and comply with traffic regulations, noting that loss of control could have fatal consequences for motorists and other road users.

He also urged members of the public to report road crashes, vehicle breakdowns, obstructions and other emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code, 3367, for prompt intervention.
