Limpopo police sergeant gets life in prison for shooting his former girlfriend six times
A Limpopo police sergeant has been sentenced to life behind bars for shooting his former girlfriend six times after she refused to reconcile with him.
41-year-old Makgwadi Malemela was sentenced by the Mankweng Regional Court on Thursday for the attempted murder of 38-year-old Victoria Ramaphoko.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) said that Malemela confronted Ramaphoko at her workplace at the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court in September 2024 and asked her to take him back.
IPID spokesperson Lizzy Shuping said that Malemela opened fire after Ramaphoko refused...
"She refused, and Malemela then took out his service firearm and shot at Ramaphoko six times at close range. At the time of the shooting incident, Malemela violated an active domestic violence protection order that barred him from contacting Ramaphoko."
