Live, October 3: India's medal hunt enters crucial final stretch
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of India's campaign at the Asian Games 2026 on Saturday, October 3.
We are entering the closing stages of the women's golf event at the Asian Games and it is good signs if you're an Indian fan. Pranavi Sharath Urs leads the way with a total of 203 shots. However, she has found herself inside a bunker and it has cost her big. She is able to free herself out of it, but the door has been opened up for the chasing pack. Aditi Ashok is in 20th spot and Diksha is tied at 22. India are currently third in the standings, but will need Aditi and Diksha to step up big time to secure a team medal.
On the men's side of things, India's Veer Ahlawat is currently 10th in the standings and six shots behind the leader. Saptak Talwar is 11th and Yuvraj Sandhu is tied 23rd.
The Asian Games is entering its final weekend, and India have another packed day ahead as athletes across multiple disciplines chase medals before the October 4 closing ceremony.
Saturdayβs schedule gets underway with the concluding rounds of golf before the focus shifts to a host of other sports, including archery, taekwondo, wrestling, sailing, rugby sevens and volleyball. With the medal count still capable of changing significantly, India will have several opportunities to add to their tally.
Wrestling will be one of the key areas to watch. Aman Sehrawat, Sagar Jaglan, Deepak Punia, Antim Panghal and Manisha Bhanwala are all in action, with some of Indiaβs wrestlers potentially progressing to medal contests as the day unfolds.
The biggest team events will also command plenty of attention.
At 10 AM, India take on Pakistan in the menβs cricket gold-medal match, with the two sides battling for the top prize.
The hockey team will then take centre stage at 3:30 PM, when India face Malaysia in the medal round. There will also be medal hopes in archery and taekwondo, adding to what promises to be a hectic day for the Indian contingent.
With only a couple of days left before the Games conclude, Saturday could prove crucial for India as the athletes look to finish the campaign on a strong note.
