Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi on the second day of the 18th BRICS Summit 2026.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the New Delhi Declaration adopted by BRICS countries, saying it highlights the “pragmatic, inclusive and forward-looking leadership” that Indian foreign policy brings to an evolving global order.
Aishanya Dwivedi, wife of Pahalgam terror attack victim Shubham Dwivedi, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for raising the issue of terrorism on a global stage through the BRICS Summit. She said the New Delhi Declaration’s collective call for a “zero-tolerance” policy against terrorism is significant for the 26 families who lost their loved ones, adding that the government is taking and will continue to take decisive steps against terrorism.
In view of the BRICS Summit, the Delhi Traffic Police on Sunday issued a detailed advisory announcing diversions at 22 points and regulating vehicular movement on more than 35 roads. The restrictions will remain in place from 8 am to 8 am on Sunday, the final day of the three-day summit at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan.
BRICS leaders have voiced serious concern over “deliberate attacks” on civilian infrastructure and peaceful nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards, stressing that nuclear safety must always be upheld, including during armed conflicts. BRICS leaders have called for the protection of cultural heritage, including in conflict-affected regions, and stressed the repatriation of antiquities and objects of spiritual, ancestral, historical and cultural value to their countries of origin. The New Delhi Declaration also welcomed the Bhopal Declaration adopted at the 11th BRICS Culture Ministers' Meeting, reaffirming the role of culture in fostering people-to-people cooperation and strengthening ties among member countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in BRICS+ events on Sunday, concluding his three-day working visit to India. Putin and other BRICS leaders will attend the Outreach BRICS+ meeting, which will focus on “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Stability: Shaping the Future of Inclusive Global Growth” and bring together BRICS leaders, representatives of 10 partner countries and several international organisations.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi said the New Delhi Declaration, the final document of the 18th BRICS Summit, aligns with Iran’s positions on key issues. He highlighted the declaration’s opposition to unilateral sanctions, condemnation of attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities, support for Iran’s WTO membership bid and backing for Palestinian rights.
Security has been tightened at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Sunday for the final day of the 18th BRICS Summit 2026.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said he travelled by bus to Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, along with Union ministers and chief ministers of various states to attend the BRICS Summit. He said the arrangement was adopted to ensure smooth movement of summit guests and avoid inconvenience to the general public, calling it an example of good governance focused on better management and proper utilisation of resources.
BJP leader Tirath Singh Rawat said the BRICS Summit is a major achievement for India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is presiding over the summit. He also praised Modi for working tirelessly, day and night, to propel India forward.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran would not surrender and questioned why civilian infrastructure, food supplies and livelihoods were being targeted. He said that if Americans are warriors, they should face Iran’s military forces, rather than denying people access to water, food and medicine.
