LIVE UPDATES: Sara Duterte Impeachment Trial (October 1, 2026) - GMA Network
Vice President Sara Duterte’s 2025 Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) did not contain the P6 million property acquired by her husband, Mans Carpio in July 2024, Senate impeachment court presiding officer Francis Escudero said.
Escudero made the statement in connection with the P6 million 379-square-meter property in Matina, Davao City that Carpio acquired on July 2, 2024 as testified by Atty. Kathy Florence Baldonado Davao City Register of Deeds IV.
“The SALNs of the Vice President were proven to be authentic by the witness of the panel of prosecutors, the SALNs were marked by both parties [as evidence] and duly sworn to by the Vice President. Thus far, there is no evidence to show that the Vice President or the respondent has denied or is denying the SALN on record, not only before the Office of the Ombudsman but also before this Court,” Escudero said.
“The presiding officer has looked in the SALN of the Vice President and does not find this particular property as one of real properties declared because we checked it against all of the declarations of the Vice President,” Escudero added.
Two provincial government officers appeared before the Senate impeachment court Thursday to shed light on the alleged properties of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio.
One of them was Marco Pineda, Deputy Register of Deeds III of the City of Samal.
Pineda was subpoenaed to testify about a property in Island Garden City of Samal registered in the name of Carpio.
The impeachment trial continued with witnesses Davao City Register of Deeds IV Kathy Florence Baldonado and City of Samal Deputy Register of Deeds III Marco Pineda.
House prosecutor and Bukidnon 2nd District Rep. Keith Flores presented the title of a 379-square-meter property in Barangay Matina, Davao City, registered under the Vice President’s husband, Manases Carpio.
Flores, Bukidnon's 2nd District since 2019, is a lawyer.
He was born in Agusan del Norte in April 1972.
Flores earned his law degree at Ateneo de Davao University and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2001.
He became a member of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats after taking his oath in 2023.
Flores is serving his third and final term as congressman after winning in the 2019, 2022, and 2025 elections.
Among the bills he authored are the Anti-Political Dynasty Act of 2025, the Anti-Online Gambling Promotion in E-Wallets Act, and the National Water Resources Management Act.
The Senate impeachment court on Thursday is expecting the appearance of two provincial government officers who will testify on the alleged properties of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio.
On the 32nd day of the impeachment trial of the vice president, Kathy Florence Baldonado appeared before the impeachment court following a subpoena issued to her.
Baldonado is the Register Deeds IV in Davao City and may comment about Carpio's alleged property in Matina.
Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV will not be presented as a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, the House prosecution panel said Thursday.
House lead prosecutor Gerville Luistro of Batangas made the manifestation on Day 32 of the impeachment trial, saying the panel's decision was final.
"The prosecution has finally decided not to present former senator Sonny Trillanes. We seek the kind indulgence of the honorable impeachment court for the belated final position on this particular concern," Luistro said.
The prosecution panel should present former senator Antonio Trillanes IV as a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte before Executive Director Ronel Buenaventura of the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), Senator-judge Raffy Tulfo said Thursday.
Tulfo made the manifestation since the Senate impeachment court is yet to issue a subpoena to Trillanes pending the prosecution’s decision on the sequence of presenting witnesses.
“Kung kukunin na witness si former Senator Trillanes, much better mauna na muna siya bago AMLC. Kasi iyong mga sasabihin niya, may kinalaman sa mga bank accounts na nakalap niya a long time ago. Kung meron siyang ibubulgar na bank accounts, mga pera, pumasok, labas sa [bank] accounts na nakuha niya sa kanyang source. After natin makausap si Trillanes, iko-confirm ng AMLC,” Tulfo said.
(If you are getting Trillanes as witness, he should take the witness stand first because his testimony will be on the bank accounts he was able to collate a long time ago. If he has anything to reveal on these bank accounts, the amounts that came in and out...after we talk to him, the AMLC can confirm it.)
Former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez said Thursday he is considering filing a motion for reconsideration of his petition against the Senate impeachment court’s decision on the voting threshold in the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Rodriguez made the statement in an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita after the Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed his petition questioning the impeachment court’s action.
“We are considering the filing of a motion for reconsideration, and we are given 15 days from receipt of the resolution. As of today, while this interview is ongoing, we have yet to get a copy of the resolution,” he said.
The Senate impeachment court will continue to discuss on Thursday, October 1, the alleged unexplained wealth of Vice President Sara Duterte.
The Day 32 of the trial was supposed to take place on Wednesday, September 30. However, the impeachment court cancelled the trial session to take a “strategic procedural pause."
Starting October 1, the trial will be held full day starting at 10 a.m. until early evening. There will be no plenary sessions.
On the 32nd day of the trial, the impeachment court is expecting the appearance of two provincial officials to testify on the properties of Duterte's husband Manases Carpio.
The Supreme Court ruling that dismissed the petitions against the Senate impeachment court's ruling on the threshold number of votes needed to convict Vice President Sara Duterte placed a "firewall" around its independence, impeachment tribunal spokesman Atty. Regie Tongol said.
Tongol issued the statement after the SC on Wednesday dismissed separate petitions challenging the Senate impeachment court’s ruling to base the voting threshold for Vice President Sara Duterte’s conviction on the number of senators who are participating in the proceedings.
According to the court, the SC En Banc dismissed the petitions filed by former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez, Berteni Causing, and lawyer Ernesto Francisco Jr. on procedural grounds, including lack of standing and prematurity.
