Prolonged power outages in the Jamshoro, Kotri and Shahbaz subdivisions have made life difficult for residents amid the intense summer heat. The outages have also led to the postponement of an examination at Mehran University.
Unscheduled load-shedding and frequent power interruptions continue across all subdivisions of the Jamshoro division. Residents claim that, instead of the scheduled eight hours, electricity is being suspended for 16 to 18 hours a day.
Due to the prolonged power outages, students at Mehran University were unable to prepare adequately for their examination. According to a university statement, the paper scheduled for September 16 has been postponed, and a new date will be announced later.
In a separate press release, the HESCO said that the 500kV Jamshoro power autotransformer was facing an additional shortfall of 40 megawatts due to overloading. As a result, two additional hours of load-shedding were being carried out at 14 grid stations under a load-management plan.
The affected 132kV grid stations include Jamshoro, Hyderabad Bypass, Gulshan-e-Shahbaz, Kotri Site and Nooriabad.
