Man charged with murder after two men found dead on NSW property

A man has been charged with murder after the bodies of two men were found two weeks apart on the same property in northern NSW.

Police were called to a house on Summerland Way in Gurranang, north of Grafton, on September 13 after a 79-year-old man’s body was found inside the home.

Officers investigating the death returned to the home on Monday afternoon and found the body of a man, believed to be aged 59, inside a shed on the property.

NSW Police Superintendent Joanne Schultz said officers “did not anticipate what they found”. She alleged it was “evident those people have met with foul play”.

“The 59-year-old male is not from Gurranang. He was visiting the property, and it appears that he died in the last 24 to 48 hours,” Schultz said on Tuesday.

Nicholas Marsden Scott, 32, has been charged with two counts of murder and stealing a motor vehicle. He did not apply for bail when he faced a court on Wednesday.

Scott is next due before Grafton Local Court on December 8.
