Three police personnel attached to the Maradu station in Kochi were allegedly assaulted by a youth in custody.
Sub-inspector Jackson, assistant sub-inspector Sumesh, and civil police officer Fazal were injured in the alleged attack by Cherthala native Ranjith on Friday (September 11, 2026) evening, according to police sources.
Mr. Fazal reportedly suffered a fracture in his right hand in the attack. Ranjith was taken into custody following a complaint of alleged misbehaviour, police sources said. He is also reportedly an accused in a drug case.
He was shifted to a cell at the Government Medical College Hospital, Ernakulam, following the incident. The police have registered a case against him for allegedly assaulting the officers and preventing them from discharging their duty.
