Manchester City beat Sunderland 5-3 on Sunday in an eight-goal thriller to move three points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Enzo Fernandez put City ahead in the ninth minute, catching goalkeeper Robin Roefs off guard with a near-post free-kick from a tight angle.

Sunderland equalized three minutes later through Brian Brobbey, who lifted the ball over Gianluigi Donnarumma after receiving Enzo Le Fee's pass behind the City defense.

Rayan Cherki restored City's lead in the 29th minute with a low finish through a crowded penalty area, but Brobbey struck again four minutes later to make it 2-2.

Antoine Semenyo put City ahead for a third time in the 43rd minute, firing home after Marc Guehi won the ball at the back post.

Semenyo doubled City's advantage in the 57th minute with a low finish, but Brobbey completed his hat trick just two minutes later to reduce the deficit to 4-3.

Erling Haaland sealed the victory in the 81st minute, sliding in to convert Josko Gvardiol's cross after the VAR referee overturned an initial offside decision.

The result extended City's perfect start to the Premier League season and moved them three points clear at the top of the table.
