TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Manchester City advanced to the last 16 of the 2026/27 Carabao Cup after thrashing Norwich City 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, September 17, local time.
Several of the club's young players stood out in the third-round victory, with 17-year-old academy graduate Floyd Samba scoring twice on his senior debut. Rayan Cherki, Allan Elias and Ryan McAidoo also got on the scoresheet.
The hosts took the lead in the 29th minute when Samba headed Allan's cross into the bottom-left corner.

Samba then struck again in the 54th minute. A mistake in possession by Norwich allowed the teenager to curl a shot into the bottom-right corner for his second goal of the night.
The youngster had a chance to complete his hat-trick but was substituted before he could add to his tally.
Norwich briefly thought they had pulled one back through Mohamed Toure, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
The scoring was completed in the 90th minute when academy graduate McAidoo finished off an opportunity created by Rico Lewis' clever movement.
The result extended the English champions' Carabao Cup record against lower-division opposition. They have now won 19 consecutive matches in the competition against clubs from lower divisions.
Their last defeat to a lower-division side came in the second round of the 2008/09 season, when Brighton and Hove Albion won on penalties while the Seagulls were still playing in the third tier.
Brighton will be the next opponents in the fourth round after Fabian Hurzeler's side came from behind to beat Manchester United 3-2.
