Jack Roslovic scored his first goal of the pre-season on Wednesday, night, while adding two assists.

Maple Leafs coach Jim Hiller sees himself as a patient bench boss. But whether players, fans and the media covering the team see him that way remains to be seen.

He debuted lines in training camp — albeit a shorter-than-usual camp — and has stuck with them.

“I think I’m pretty patient,” said Hiller. “But If we have some guys going and some guys not, I’m pretty quick to shift those around.”

In essence, he’s trusting that Auston Matthews can rediscover some magic with free agent signing Jack Roslovic from their teenage years at the U.S. National Development camp, while also counting on a healthy Matthew Knies to do the heavy lifting in the corners and in front of the net.
