'Mizzou shouldn't be ranked crowd is in SHAMBLES' after win over No. 8 Florida - USA Today
Last week, Florida football delivered a statement win just four games into the Jon Sumrall era in Gainesville when Jaden Baugh and Co. took down Trinidad Chambliss and Mississippi at home.
This week, the Gators had shades of the past, as they were run over on the road by Austin Simmons and Missouri.
Funny how life in the SEC (and sports) is, huh?
The eighth-ranked Gators took their first loss of the season on Saturday, Oct. 3, falling 45-17 to the 25th-ranked Tigers at Memorial Stadium. Their running game, which had been explosive and averaging 260.0 rushing yards through the first four weeks of the season, was held to just 42 rushing yards.
Missouri's win is a notable one, as Eliah Drinkwitz's program had received some buzz and questions in the lead-up to the game about its inclusion in the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll after its 3-1 overall and 0-1 SEC start to the season.
It's also notable since it is just the second ranked win for the program under Drinkwitz since the 2024 season. It's the program's first top-10 ranked win since 2013.
Given the unexpected outcome in Columbia and how dominant a performance the Tigers showed, those on college football social media did not hold back — as all passionate fans do on Saturdays this time of the season —with their thoughts on Missouri's win and Florida's loss.
