Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Minibus Crash on Jalan Daan Mogot, West Jakarta

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A fatal accident occurred on Westbound Jalan Daan Mogot, right in front of the Rawa Kramat Motor Workshop, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, on Sunday (20/9/2026) at around 5:00 AM WIB.

A motorcyclist identified as AS (54), riding a Yamaha Fazzio with license plate A 3479 VBL, died at the scene after a collision with a minibus whose driver remains unidentified.

West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Enforcement Unit Chief AKP Joko Siswanto said the accident began when the victim was riding his motorcycle from East to West along Jalan Daan Mogot.

"Upon reaching the area in front of the Rawa Kramat Motor Workshop, a collision occurred with a minibus whose registration number and driver are unknown," Joko told Kompas.com on Sunday.

Based on initial investigation, the minibus was traveling in the same direction next to the victim's motorcycle.

However, an accident ensued causing the victim to fall off his motorcycle.

As a result, AS suffered a head injury and was declared dead at the scene.

"The victim sustained a head injury and died at the location," he added.

The minibus driver fled the scene with the vehicle after the crash.

The victim’s body was taken to Tangerang Regency General Hospital for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, the victim’s motorcycle sustained damage to its side bodywork in the form of scratches and scrapes.

The police are still investigating the exact cause of the accident. The identity of the minibus and its driver remain unknown and are being sought.

"The suspected cause of the accident is still under investigation," Joko explained.

Authorities have secured evidence and are gathering statements from several witnesses near the scene.

Investigators will continue the inquiry to fully uncover the chronology and locate the minibus involved in the fatal accident.
