Municipal elections: EFF takes campaign to Cape Town - EWN

In a bid to win over new voters, EFF leader Julius Malema has repeated some of his party’s previous election promises. 

In sweltering weather, EFF supporters packed the Delft South Sports Complex for the launch of the provincial local government election manifesto. 

With just over six weeks left before South Africans go to the polls, Malema touched on mostly national issues like land and wealth distribution. 

Malema promised that his party would fight for the poor, stating that they deserved a seat at the table of South Africa’s economy. 

In a township marked by poverty, Malema got loud cheers when he promised an eff council would not cut services to the poor. 

Instead, Malema promised it would extend basic services, water and sanitation, to each household. 

"This organisation will fight for the poor because we believe that no one is born poor. It is a decision of the system to keep you poor. And we will fight the system."

The EFF also introduced its mayoral candidate for Cape Town, Nontando Nolutshungu.
